Anchor's Away

I was asked to make a Bachelorette Party cake with a simply adorable theme. The girls all have shirts that say "Mate of Honor" and "Brides Mates" so this cake fit the theme of the evening perfectly! (and matched the girls no less).

I mean--how cute are they!!

Wedding Dress Bridal Shower Cake

This may be one of my favorite cakes thus far! And made for a friend I love dearly for her very special day. I wish I could have removed the fondant layer and preserved it forever. The cake decorations consist of fondant and brush embroidery with royal icing. The cake even matched the invitations. This seems to be a theme in my life. See my post for my first shower cake ever for details.

Mazel Tov Madeline and Elliot!

Winery Picnic Cake

Birthday's are the best! Birthdays at wineries are even better! This was a surprise cake for a friend and we were celebrating at Black Ankle Vineyards. Adorable vineyard for those in the MD/DC/VA areas, a must see! We have become quite proficient in winery outings and parties, so I thought our typical winery picnic theme was appropriate for this cake. The cake was a vanilla almond cake with a vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. Not the best choice of icing for a hot day, but thankfully it was eaten quickly and the leftover melted pieces were enjoyed after a few glasses of wine. I am not even sure forks were used at that point. All in all, a fun day and a fun cake!

Enjoy!

Choo Choo Train Cake

This was made for a little cutie turning 3 who, like many his age,  has a certain love for trains. This cake was a simple vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant. As many of my friends are having little ones, I am being asked to do more and more kid themed cakes--which I love!

Penguins and Polka Dots

This was my first attempt at making something other than flowers out of Fondant and I have to admit...I was pretty nervous. But in the end, Pluto {yes, we named him} turned out great! He was so cute I had trouble parting with him.

Extra batter and icing can only mean one thing...cupcakes. My attempt at pacifiers and bottles was not as successful as Pluto but by this point it was pretty late so I went with it.

Chevron Baby Shower

This cake was made for a friend's baby shower and girls that threw it did a fantastic job. I was so excited to make this cake because it included Ombre and Chevron. Two of my favorite things!

I can't take credit for the pictures below, but I wanted to include them since the shower decor was so amazing!

Robin's Egg Cake

What else am I supposed to do with an egg shaped cake pan? These molds were handed down to me from a friend's grandmother who used to make wedding cakes. I was so excited to go through all my new goodies and I came across these. I am not sure what other occasion an egg shaped cake is appropriate for, so I decided to make a little Easter cake this year for the fam.

Roses and Brush Embroidery

This was made for a very special lady, my  Grandma Rose. The only directions I had for the cake were to include roses. Easy enough....but I had wanted to try my hand at this brush embroidery thing for a while too. Turns out, I love it! What a fun way to fancy up a cake. I can't wait to try this again!

Guinness the Menace

St. Paddy's Day is one of my boyfriend and I's favorite holidays. He always hosts a big party, live Irish music {que the bagpipes} and lots of corned beef! This year I decided to make a Guinness cake and cupcakes with Baily's Irish Cream buttercream. This cake is incredibly moist. Maybe because I tipped a  large can of beer into the batter....that could be it.

Birthday Cupcakes

We were hosting a little surprise birthday for a great friend of mine and {of course} I wanted to make the dessert. I tried some new recipes this time. The darker icing was a Nutella buttercream and it was amazing! I wish I had the sense to take a quick picture before I left the house that day because hot day/hot trunk = melty cupcakes. Generally I take more cake during transportation, but alas...we all make mistakes, right?

Sprinkles for Days

30th birthdays are no joke! It's also difficult for me to make a "manly" cake, I like everything to be pretty. So I went with something pretty simple that matched the blue and grey decor at the party. Here she he is!
