Star Spangled Cupcakes

The beau and I decided to go to a 4th of July pool party/cookout at the last  minute and I just had to bring something, you can't show up to a party empty handed! Of course, that meant I had to find time to bake cupcakes and they had to be fast and easy...but also appropriately themed. BBQ...4th of July....SMORE'S! Perfect. I used pre-boxed Graham cracker crumbs, added a touch of melted butter for the bottom layer. A delicious dark chocolate cake for the middle layer and for icing...a simple meringue. These babies were amazing! For the kiddos who I were not sure would appreciate the meringue I also added some butter to that meringue to make a simple SMBC icing.

I was so rushed on these, that I didn't even have time for my normal photo op...so don't  mind the cake carrier.

Will you be my Valentine?

I personally think Valentine's day is overrated. We should show those we love that we love them all the time. Flowers should be bought for no reason at all. But the one thing I love about Valetine's Day are those sassy little candy hearts. And chocolate of course.

I was asked to make cupcakes for a baby shower (twins!) the weekend of Valentine's Day and the theme of the party was...you guessed it.....Valentine's. I made two types of cupcakes:
Brown Sugar Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream
and
Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing

Thankfully there were plenty of extra's for me to "taste test."

60th Birthday Cake

I was asked to make a special cake for my friend's mom's 60th birthday. She wanted something simple and sophisticated. I wanted a touch of silver. Here is what we came up with:

Birthday Cake Pops

I needed inspiration for a fun 30th birthday theme and since I love interior design/decorating, I often get my inspiration from whatever fabrics or items I am currently lusting over. I saw Kate Spade's new Ticker Tape Tidbits plate and I was in love. How fun would these be for the holidays??

Moving on.... I was tasked with making some treats for my friends birthday. The party included plenty of kiddos so I thought it would be fun to make some cake pops and I was sure they'd be a hit with the little ones. {I was right} I also wanted a little cake for the birthday girl so she could blow out some candles, because it's not a proper birthday without a good wish. After adorning some candles, vases and balloons with lots of sparkles and gold, we were good to go.

Enjoy!
