Tropical Themed Bridal Shower Cake

This Peanut Butter and Chocolate beauty was made for a great friends bridal shower this past weekend. Making the flowers is certainly a tedious job but in the end it was worth every second. For only my second cake using gum paste flowers I was pretty happy with the result. I am not going to lie, I shed a little tear as the first cut was being made.

Hibiscus Birthday Cake

I love making birthday cakes...especially when it's a surprise! I have a wedding shower cake to practice for and it just so happened to be my friend's birthday few weeks prior...so why not? This was my first attempt at making flowers out of sugar paste and I have to say, it was a lot of fun and not nearly as daunting as it once seemed. Time consuming, yes, but worth it in the end. Making these brought back fond memories of playing with play dough but in a much more organized and thought out fashion. I think I'm hooked.

Simple Wedding Cake

The sweetest part of your big day will probably be your wedding cake, literally. Family, friends and photographers look forward to the moment the couple joins hands around the cake knife and cuts the first slice of wedding cake. I made this cake for just that occasion. That and to re-live that moment on their one year anniversary. This simple yet elegant Lemon and Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream cake was made especially for those reasons. I even made myself a cupcake to try because the icing was to die for. Lemon cake may just be my new favorite!
